When we are no longer able to change a
situation, we are challenged to changing
ourselves
-Viktor Frankl
In person & Online
Our lifestyles are more hectic and stressful than ever, at some point most of us find that life can be challenging and we all need a little help and support.
The Coleby Centre is a private independent therapy and training centre, established in 2000 by Gill Coleby. Some of our therapists work from the therapy centre based in Sidcup, Kent and some work online – whether you want to work with someone face to face or remotely – we are there for you.
We offer a variety of therapies from fast-paced solution-oriented therapy to deeper, longer-term help, all designed to overcome addictions, stress, anxieties, deeper-rooted psychological matters and relationship issues.
Counselling and psychotherapy helps you to gain insight into, and a new perspective on issues that trouble you. Together we will explore the causes of your difficulties and consider what prevents you from having the kind of life you want. The aim of the process is to assist you to become better able to understand and accept yourself; to come to terms with the difficult experiences you have had and to address unhelpful patterns of behaviour, replacing them with much more beneficial ones. Life can become more manageable, more comfortable, lighter and more fun.

A Safe Haven for Exploration
One of the most compelling reasons to seek therapy is the confidential space it provides. In a world that often pushes us to hide our vulnerabilities, therapy encourages open discussions about feelings.
Our therapists create an accepting atmosphere, empowering clients to face their issues head-on. Whether discussing childhood trauma, work stress or relationship issues, therapy focuses solely on your emotional needs. For example, a client struggling with anxiety about their job often find relief in therapy by learning techniques to manage those feelings effectively.
Engaging in therapy can transform your life. It provides a safe space to explore emotions and offers professional guidance to navigate life's difficulties. Whether facing stress, sadness, grief, or conflict, therapy presents a valuable opportunity for growth and improved well-being
The professional Advantage
A therapist’s objectivity allows them to view your situation without the emotional biases that loved ones might have. This distance often leads to clearer insights and effective solutions. Additionally, the structured nature of therapy provides focused time solely for your needs, unlike informal conversations where topics may shift.
Online therapy is a therapy service performed remotely through a video conferencing platform or website application. Although our therapists have been providing therapy online for over ten years, the pandemic accelerated the use of online therapy services within the UK, as lockdown and social distancing posed a challenge for face-to-face therapy to continue as normal.
Remote therapy services have become increasingly available in recent decades, and presently, online therapy is the leader in telehealth services. The convenience of connecting to a therapist online is gaining popularity as an option, with new and existing clients opting to either continue or start online therapy sessions for its effectiveness, flexibility and affordability.
There is strong evidence that psychological therapy can be effectively delivered online to treat a range of mental health difficulties, and from our experience of offering online therapy for over a decade, along with supporting studies, it is shown that online therapy provides an equally effective option for mental health support as face-to-face therapy with a clinician. Online therapy is not just some passing trend that goes hand-in-hand with COVID- 19 either. Online therapy services will likely continue to grow in popularity, even now that restrictions have lifted and people can resume in-office visits with their doctors and therapists.
